Headaches, etc caused by chakras?

The other day, my mom and I, around noon and within half an hour of each other, both had a slight headache. Over the course of the rest of the day, both turned into migraines with varying degrees of nausea. We thought it might have been what we had for lunch, but seeing as we had eaten the exact same fruit the night before, and again the day after, I'm not so sure it was that. Both headaches were in the same places - somewhat on the very top of my head, and somewhat behind my eyes and eyebrows. Hers went away after lying on the couch for a while that night, while mine kind of came and went. We tried all of the remedies for migraines - from massages to magnesium supplements to vitamins - and nothing helped.

A few weird things - My right ear has been kind of clogged off and on over the last few weeks. That evening, I was standing in the kitchen when my right ear kind of blocked and my left ear got very loud for 2 or 3 seconds, and then it was gone. Then when I laid down to go to sleep, I had a weird sound in my left ear for about 2 seconds. It wasn't really a ringing, but more like a windchime. Just a single chime.

Next morning (yesterday), mom's was completely gone, as was mine. The same time that day, right around noon, my headache started coming back again, only I hadn't had any of the same foods as the day before. I did some research online and came across the brow and crown chakras sometimes causing headaches, so I tried some of the self remedies for that, and it did help. It still came and went, but when I did the chakra exercises, it never got as bad as the first day. Last night I did some third-eye chakra opening exercises to see if it would make a difference.

Today, I woke up early in the morning really congested and my throat was really sore and hurt when I swallowed. It still does, but coffee helped quite a bit. I don't have allergies anymore, and I haven't been congested in months, so I'm not sure why I was so congested last night. As soon as I sat up in bed that part was gone. Now it's just my throat hurts and I feel weird, almost light-headed, but not.

My question is, is any of that related to any of the chakras somehow, or is my body just being weird? I just don't think if it was food related that my mom would be fine and I would still have funky symptoms 2 days later. Any thoughts?

It so depends on how you approach the chakras. To open them properly needs the energy conduits, ida and pingala in balance. There are exercises to achieve this.

So without knowing your regime and what you're trying to do with the chakras it's hard to say. There's always the possibility that you awoke Kundalini but weren't prepared for the result if she reached the crown. It's unusual for the chakra to cause a transient discomfort unless the person is way off track. But....one's psychic health can map onto physical health so haved a look at what you're doing with the chakras. A good diet is important always.

It kinda sounds to me like there's been a bug between the two of you. The headache and the blocked ears sounds like sinus infection, which can contribute to swollen glands and a sore throat.
Healing with chakras can aid/relieve symptoms... Some people like to meditate to imagine their symptoms being washed away. It is less likely that your chakras are the actual reason for your ailments.

I just figured I'd ask since it was the only distinctly different thing I'd done. I eat very healthy and exercise and haven't been sick in any way in years, so that just doesn't seem likely to me that I'd all of a sudden be sick. But whatever the cause, I feel better today. My throat still hurts somewhat, but I feel less clogged up than yesterday, so if it is just some kind of head cold or something, I guess I'm kicking it. I took it easy yesterday and got a good nights sleep, had some mint tea with honey and some echinacea herbal lozenges... pretty much everything I found for a head cold or sinus problems. I also made sure to drink a lot of extra water. I did a search for swollen tongue, as I think that is actually what was swollen, and it came up with dehydration. I didn't really have anything to drink SUnday and Monday because water was nauseating to me, so I suppose it coudld've been something with the chakras, dehydration, head cold, or some combination of any of those.

Is it possible that opening or balancing any of the chakras, if they were previously very imbalanced, could cause your body to be able to detox something? I don't know, just a thought. Thank you both for your replys! :)

This isn't unusual. An increasing number of people in the last 10 or 15 years in "the modern Western world" seem to have been experiencing this sort of "symptom", and it generally seems to be happening among spiritually oriented people.

The big fad these days seems to be "twin souls" but back in, say, 2009 or 2011, a lot of posts here at SF were about "ascension" - the rising of energy and consciousness in individuals, and collectively among the human race. It was all connected conceptually with the expectations of 2012. In any case, there were discussions about 'ascension symptoms' not only here at SF but on a number of web pages specifically devoted to addressing these aches, pains, meridian-clearing sensations, chakra activations, mood shifts, psychological clearings, etc, etc.

I've definitely experienced these sorts of things, due to the fact that I've been involved with yogic and Buddhist practices for a lot of years. They are not unusual. Probably because I'd been experiencing an increasing variety of things like this since 2002 or so, I didn't associate them especially with the approach of the year 2012.

As I see it, these "symptoms" (if we want to call them that) are part of an ongoing process that has psycho-physical apsects. What I do is cut back on the amount of time I put into some practices during a day - or even leave off for a day (or a few) - if the symptoms become too intrusive or uncomfortable. I never actually abandon my active spiritual life, I've just learned to manage my practice regime.

I read somewhere that one can overdo chakra work. I would imagine that may be almost exactly like physical exercises where muscles can be stretched and even internally bruised.

One (third eye) chakra exercise I've been enjoying lately is to imagine the cavity of the forehead packed with cotton wool - no more, no less. Leaving the chakra dormant.

Similarly, relaxing all the chest muscles that surround the heart chakra area - likewise leaving the chakra dormant.

Always try to find new ways to use your chakras even if it means giving them some time off. Some rest and relaxation.
Pampering the areas of the chakras instead of the chakras themselves may give some surprising results.

Hope this made a some sense and is helpful to you.
