If you think about it, the greying of hair is also inductively reasoned, but rather than the hair's property staying the same, in the way that a wood fire will be hot, we can induce hair colour will change based on experience of the past.

Yeah, I agree on the hair color thing.

But beyond covering it well, how do we proceed with "knowing" anything? It seems to shake the core of knowledge. And *knowing* is part of everyday life (not to mention college/academic/scientific life, which is part of my plans).

And I will note, one book said there would come a day to come when the lot of men would be so bad, they would WISH to kill themselves to remove themselves from the situation they found themselves in.... and suddenly would find themselves without a path to death. Something that is normally trivial to do would become impossible.

Personally, I haven't seen enough statues to be able to make the observation that 'no statue has cried therefore none will'. I'm in the same situation as the friend who heard of a miracle... I've simply been told what is what.

For that matter, even being told that there are any statues that I haven't seen is questionable, because, quite simply, I haven't seen them. Again, I'm relying on what I was 'told' even to be able to make the claim I made above.

So, if I am going to question what I am told I am in the same boat as he was... that people make mistakes and therefore what I was told may be wrong as opposed to what I observe.

What I am saying is if I am going to go PURELY by what I observe and NOT by what other people tell me exists, I am likely to come to some very interesting conclusions. And THAT is where science as we know it falls apart.
