I love love love being around people who take good care of themselves!
I like to read, "healthy habits of highly successful people." Exercise & self care is a big part of being successful.
My, "God," comes first; family & friends are wonderful, but the choice to exercise, eat healthy is a wonderful part of this human life.
I like at home work outs. Been a health fanatic for years now, but always learning more, trying new things.
I used to love reading about Dr. Kenneth Cooper's ideas on fitness.
I have followed his, "aerobic points," for years now. It has helped me in my life with pace, happiness, discipline, health.
I prefer at home work outs. IF I were to go to the gym it would not necessarily be ongoing but maybe for a season, to be around more people, or say for the pool, etc. There are all kinds of diseases anymore people can pick up around others in these environments including MRSA. Personally I think at home is safer choice.

I prefer the gym, because the travel necessary to get there makes me want to push myself and make the best out of the time I have. At home it's easy to be undisciplined and be distracted.. ''I will do it tomorrow'' etc. I also think all the machines are just too convenient.

I've been working out everyday at home for 16+ years, half an hour, using only dumbbells as equipment. I also walk about 30 min most days. Together with sensible eating, these are enough for my health and physical fitness.

Going to the gym implies some wasted time, and using gym equipment doesn't bring additional health and regular fitness benefits.

LOL inavalan.. it clearly didn’t work for you, but here’s the surprise.. for a lot of people it does work, with the additional benefit of meeting people and just being in a competitive environment. By all means don’t go to gyms but don’t spread the lie that it has no benefits. That’s simply wrong and not very motivating to people who come here to read and are curious. It comes across as spiteful.

I didn't mean to be spiteful. Unfortunately this is one of the problems with communicating in writing. For instance, I perceived your post as rude: you stated that I "lie".

I stand by my opinion, because I'm well informed on healthy lifestyle, and I've practiced it for almost 20 years with excellent results.

I don't find a plus in going to the gym to have to meet competitive people the way you seem to be. To me, working out is for its health benefits, only. Not for performance, not for showing off, not for chatting, not for pick up, not to measure myself against others.

You made my point! For a health conscious person, there is no additional benefit in going to the gym, au contraire!

But you were telling a lie. You cannot speak for other people who gain something from their work outs..

20 years and ''well informed'' become meaningless the moment you try and make general conclusions for all people based on.. one case.. you!

False dichotomy...
You create a most bizarre narrative there. Maybe talk about it with people.. don't be alone.. maybe you'll learn people's motives!

That would be an interesting exercise program. What are the exercises that you do?

Just getting started again, a lot of planks, squats and pushups. Im on my feet all day at work so that is good cardio, but I'll probably run and jump rope on weekends.

I may buy a weighted vest however (breaking my own weightless rule lol), simply to add some weight to my own body weight

It'd be a good idea to add in pull ups and inverted rows to get a strong back as well.

My suggestions will always be to do one core and two complimentary muscular groups. Don't want to get super buff? Don't lift like a powerlifter.

Two points I'll critique here.

1) It isn't necessary to do cardio to lose weight. Changed in body weight will come down to taking in less calories that you burn. Cardio burns some calories, so it is advisable for weight loss goals. It is important to eat the right nutrients, so the distribution of protein fat and carbs needs to be right.

2) Lifting like a powerlifter isn't what bulks. The main driver of hypertrophy (muscle gainz) is 'volume' (sets x reps x weight). For example, if a person does 120kg for fives, that's a total volume of 600. If that do 100 for 8s, that's a total volume of 800. The latter is going to bulk moreso than the former (provided the diet is right).

Jorge Cruise's "8 Minutes in the Morning" padded with warming up, 5-6 minutes of High-Intensity, then stretches. It adds up to 25-35 minutes depending on the "8 Minutes" selected set.
