What you could try is to physically and spiritually bow down to God. It is claimed it softens the heart.

If you are feeling bad about yourself you could physically and spiritually bow down to yourself. Surrender to your self's higher power.

Sometimes I've been thinking about the self. There's the "I" and the "self". And there is the great phrase "Be yourself". Sometimes I feel that, the passion for alcohole, cigarretes even drugs come from the self. At least it seems , that when I go towards destructive behaviour the impulses come from the self. And the "I" is the one that says "don't do it".And behind the "I" stays pure consciousness. And God is consciousness itself.

But of course, this is only a little theory. No empirical evidence , yet. :)

Hi sky123,
this is the 3rd time you lead me towards this article. It is a good one.

It is important how we percieve God. I read some time ago, that in order to establish a connection, we must perciieve Him as a being, that is conscious of itself. But sometimes I feel Him, working as a non-personal force...which makes me sad. But... feelings are for girls, right? I think about Yogananda often, when He speaks about God being consciousness, I know he knows more than me.So I except what he says. One thing is clear - I''ve got a lot to learn.
Peace.
