Advice for a novice on spirit guides?

I have done some angel communication. I can be aware of my guardian angel's presence when I wish, I can get short intuitive "yes/no" or "fight/flight" answers when I quiet the mind and breathe, and I have successfully used the tarot as a medium to facilitate angel messages.

But when it comes to contacting my spirit guide(s), I'm not so confident. I did a guided meditation but I'm not sure I got any real answers.

It is difficult for me to enter a relaxed state. My mind is always racing. It's also hard to determine what is a real message in meditation... it feels so subtle that I worry it's just my imagination. I know I need to let go and trust... but I can't just trust blindly.

How should someone with a hyperactive mind enter a relaxed state? Any advice on how to chill out and trust so I can meet my spirit guide?

I'd also love to hear about how it *feels* when you enter the proper state, and how, to your individual experience, you identify the feeling when messages are given to you.

Have you tried meditating to soothing music? this sometimes helps you keep your focus, when you connect to your guide properly the feeling is totally different from any other, as you connect to your Angels it shouldnt be so difficult to connect to your spirit guide.
i think you know this yourself but are looking to others for verifacation. you tend to doubt yourself, which is normal but the more experienced you get. the easier it becomes,

My mind is always racing (it never wants to stop ) but this has never been a problem regarding my communication with my spirit guides. I have an open line to them and so does everyone else. But learn when to listen and when not to listen to your mind and then you will find an ease in the communication.

This is a common problem while attempting communication.

As your guide to play a little game with you. There are many different ways you can do this, but one way is to count and only focus on the numbers, ask your guide to say a word in between the numbers and see if you hear that word.

Another word of advice is guides "speak" quickly, quicker than your messages. It is another indication that are actually speaking with your guide.
