strange situation

Okay, I wasn't really sure where to put this discussion, but I figured I would put it here since it more or less seemed to make more sense. And I figured that this was more or less a subject befitting for "Spiritual Forums".

So, there is this coffee shop in my hometown that everyone frikin LOVES to go to...I think it's just okay, but for whatever reason, a lot people love it!

Anyway, I was there at this coffee shop the other day with a friend of mine (who LOVES it there lol), and I noticed that they were selling a necklace that was apparently made with a real human finger bone....Ahem...let me say that again...a real human finger bone...(or at least, so they say anyway). It was even advertised, "REAL HUMAN BONE!! $50". It looked like a medial metacarpal for those of you who might know Human Osteology. I don't even know if that's legal, but I'm not 100% sure...

Now, being an anthroplogy major (with an emphasis in archaeology), I have learned over and over again that most people/cultures are very VERY touchy when it comes to how you treat the human remains that you find (and with good reason, I think), and most of the time, if you MUST take the remains from their resting places to study them, you MUST but them back where they came from once you are done.

And when I took a Human Osteology class about a year ago, we were allowed to take pictures of the bones that we studied for studying purposes, but if we ever posted those pictures on the internet, like on our facebook or whatever, and someone noticed or found out, we'd be in some BIG trouble. Because you can't do that with human bones, because that was once a real living person and that is how you show respect for who that person might have been.

And even with the anthroplogy/archaeology business aside, I personally just don't think that's right because, as mentioned before, that's just not respectful to me. And it's really creepy...

I won't lie, I was really offended when I saw that, and just because of that, I don't care how much my friend loves that place, I refuse to ever go again after that last time (unless it's to get someone to arrest them for selling/making that necklace because I actually figured out that it was illegal lol)

Anyway, I guess I just wanted to post this to see your thoughts on this.

Hey Antiquerose.

I would have to agree with you if the necklace is real human bone,it cant be legal
resting olaces are sacred and should not be abused, i would speak to someone in authority and put them in the picture, of what is being sold in the coffee shop,

Namaste

Since the place is so popular, I'm wondering if it's a voodoo shop that made some rituals to make a lot of money. Maybe they're selling the bones of the people they killed in human sacrifice.

Personally speaking, I'd notify the police and tell them about my knowledge of osteology.

My mind is reeling.
