A moving and revealing story of a loving cow
Most people reading this section of the forum probably need no convincing of the spirituality and intelligence of animals. However, this story is very moving. It is about a very loving and clever cow who hid one of her calves. She had learned that her little ones would always be taken away in order to service higher milk yields - so she consciously hid one and fed it secretly!
The story is told by a remarkable vet, who gallantly tried to persuade the farmer to let the male calf stay with his mother after his presence was discovered. To no avail, alas!

Both heart-warming and heart-rending at the same time.
The maternal bond, the same in any language - or species.

About 50 years ago a London evening newspaper had a report about a cow whose calf had been taken and sold at market. The cow got out in the night and found its young one...It was on a farm 30 miles away. At one point the cow would have had to cross the river Thames. Nobody knew where or how...
