Things that blow up generally represent something shocking or upsetting that happens to us. It sounds to me that this mean teacher from your past had an impact on you, making you feel like you have to perform feats of daring to succeed all the while never being told how in the first place. Sounds like this teacher undermined your ability to believe in yourself and made learning a tricky unsafe situation. Her anger or meaness could also be one source where self guilt started. People and situations can have a huge impact on us as children and we often carry this into adulthood without realizing it. Maybe take some time to understand that you aren't that child anymore. You are a capable adult and her teaching style isn't any sort of reflection on you. Try to separate how people treat you from who you are and you will liberate yourself and take back your life.

Your old school blowing up means your old ways of thinking and perspective has ended to make way for something new. Things you learned in the past don't serve you anymore. For me, water or bodies of water generally represent emotions. The sea represents your vast and deep emotions and/or subconsciousness. You had to walk a tight rope to get there so balancing your emotions is the key right now. Your old teacher from your old school didn't want to teach you how to control your emotions, she didn't allow you to learn how to swim. Now that doesn't serve you anymore, you are finally learning how to control your emotions or to understand them more, you are learning how to swim!
