This is driving me crazy!
Last night I was watching "From Up On Poppy Hill" wish my husband (for those of you who don't know, this is an Anime cartoon set in WWII Japan) and this song starts playing in the background.
It is in Japanese and my husband says... "Where have I heard this song?"
I said "I recognize it only I have never heard it in Japanese".
Then I start singing the English version of it. Or what I can remember of it:
"It's all because of you...
Once again you'd be mine o mine...
In reality, you and I could never be,
You took your love away from me."
I am so certain of it I actually start Googling it thinking for sure I am going to find the English version of this song online some where. The issue is, all the remakes of this song are done by Rap artists and the version I remember was done in the same era as the one in the movie last night. Now my husband said he had never heard it done in English before but I was able to find the Lyrics for the version I was talking about.

But I can't figure out why I remember the English version of a Japanese song done in 1961 which apparently was so uncommon it can't be found anywhere.
This is the closest I could get, it is the original Japanese version.

It is really driving me nuts.
