can't sleep
is often the case
thinking of what
might have been
could have been
should be
yawning
i can't stop
thinking
needing
you
wanting
more
than what
you give
gave
reaching
for your
side of the bed
its cold
without you
time is not my friend
not any more
as the clock
ticks
down
3:20am
still awake
wanting
to call
you
knowing
i shouldn't
caving in
dialing
i hang up
before
it rings
knowing
you are
fast asleep
the way
i ought to be
knowing damn
well
you may not be
alone
4:03am
the clock
ticks
silently
unlike
my thoughts
hurting
i want to
cry
instead i
watch
that clock
succumbing to
slumber
its restless
6:13am
waking
needing
you
more than
the coffee
I just poured
6:22am
suddenly
the silence
is broken
that ring
your face
appears
like a long
lost friend
a smile
crosses my face
no longer fatigued
i answer
"hey how are you?"
"tired. i miss you babe."

Wow!........gave me goosebumps......you are an emotional storyteller elfay.....you're words, full of meaning and emotion.....love them.....like Gem said....true to life....
