Perhaps because it's reputed to be so large...?

One day a happy SFer went down to play
he tried and spied
but little could he find
out in the wilds of bonny Scotland

Till he did by mistake spill
a bottle of whiskey while he was frisky
and the liquid fled away
out and beyond the mists

Carrying a good load, little good did it bode
as although determined to find nice monsters so kind
his self unwrapped from within
and he fell down all alone

From above the dark angel did smile and for quite awhile
yet another man willing to to give it all he can
in the pursuit of a monster
no less and no more

When the time came it turned out all the same
the search in vain had just become insane
the ghost inside the castle
closer than you think

What ate him in the end was not what Nessie did send
but the water deep that came up out of his sleep
the hidden, still creeper
behind a friendly face.

It could be friendly but you know how people can be when they don't understand something. Some do just call her/him Nessie.

Lol sunsoul with another poem! There's no topic he can't write a poem about.

Hasn't the entire Loch been scanned thoroughly now? Surely it would have been found by now? Perpetuating the myth is more about Scottish tourism revenue, methinks. All the fakes, like the surgeons photograph have done little to convince there is or ever was a monster present. I'd love to think of a living dinosaur anywhere in the world but this isn't a realm like death or other planets where proof cannot be obtained, here, sadly, the reality is there is very, very unlikely to be anything more than perhaps a species of very large fish, certainly nothing like the classic long neck of people's dreams.

Are you offering to swim Loch Ness on the full moon with Neptune arising up your bow...?

There are diferent sightings of a Nessie type of creature seen in other parts of the world. No one understands what it is.
