Necro...Oh I love Stuart Wilde! I know this is the "Tolle" thread, but I remember sometime around the early 2000s I was in a bookstore browsing the New Age book section (lol) and I felt pulled to this one particular book....It was Stuart Wilde's "Infinite Self" and felt compelled to buy it...I had never heard of him before until I saw that book...I still have it (haven't read it in a few years though)...It's one of those books when you give it a re-read you get a new perspective compared to the first time reading it...At least that's been my experience with inspirational books such as Tolle, Wilde, etc... :<

Thank you and I'm glad I helped you make the connection.
Stuart Wilde is a great author of this stuff too.
Peace.

As for those books that give you a new perspective every time you read it only three books ever did that for me: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert Pirsig, Jonathon Livingston Seagull - Richard Bach and The Prophet, Khalil Gibran...but yeah...carry on...Tolle...

Honestly I like Eckart Tolle and I recommend him but the stuff he talks bout it so basic and a lot of it is missing the components of other spiritual things
I recommend RICHARD ROHR
He is a Franciscan and he is a Catholic....BUT he is truly awe inspiring because it's all about Love. In fact I thought Rohr was inspired by Tolle until I found out that Rohr was inspired by Thomas Merton and has been teaching way before Tolle.
Rohr even talk to Tolle and I think they are friends
My problem with Eckhart Tolle is how he thinks you can get all answers from being in the moment. He says evil is "extreme human consciousness". Uhhh excuse me but there is evil that is unexplainable that not even animals could attempt. There is also evil that isn't even human if you are someone opened to the Spirit World. He also says that your thoughts are nothing. That is true to an extent but I know for a fact that every Thought is a vibration like a key pressed on a piano and set to the Universe- even the subtlest thought.
I swear I had this very small subtle thought and God picked up on it and gave me a sign. It was the weirdest thing. That is when I realized thoughts really are things and they can be powerful
Now that sounds unfortunate to someone with OCD or phobias and paranoia. I am one of those but those are not really thoughts. The Universe is smart enough to decipher the difference between instrusive thoughts vs a real Thought. Instusive are not even your own thoughts. That part- Eckart Tolle is correct. They are like garbage going on and on inside your head. It's like someone choosing inbetween Radio-stations and hearing static. You yourself are not choosing a station to tune into so it's just regergetated **** from others and your experiences.
Another issue I have with Eckhart Tolle is not so much him but people I know who swear by him. I have a friend where if I bring up something and if it doesn't fit with Tolle's worldview it's not true. That can be dangerous. That is why gurus, spiritual teachers, and guides are just THAt, they are not prophets and seers. They don't possess knowledge beyond what they already know. They have wisdom but that doesn't mean they know everything. There are those who in history had access to All-Knowledge and possessed Spiritual Wisdom but these are so few in between

This then might mean Anthony that you 'Should' buy it and decide for yourself.
There's that axiom of advertising that any publicity is good publicity.
Therefore if there is argument about whether Tolle is right or wrong that is merely on the level of ego and in a sense simply states he must be good otherwise why would the ego's come out and defend themselves and state cases either way?
It is alike hunting as in we decide the prey and very often it does not present itself to us to be caught... it wouldn't then be hunting would it? Nope, we have to go forth and learn what territories are and within territories find the effects of how the prey moves whilst also understanding their senses and how they might detect us.

I think there is no one sentence that is a 100% correct, so any kind of method could have its flaws, good things and bad things, correct stuff and incorrect stuff, valid and invalid, you know what I mean.
The important is to take the things that help us to develop our spirituality and capabilities.
So even if the methods from some authors may be wrong 99% or 1%, there could be things that can indeed help us in our path.

Thanks for that, i have heard allot of people that don't like Tolle, why i asked.
I just thought that for me to be in the now and present would help me and i still feel it could. I have a big problem with day dreaming. Always daydreaming.
Ty for your view

I think I did it a little backwards
I was practicing being in the now - mindfulness to help with depression and was becoming hyper-active. It took me ages to realise that I needed to be present in my body first as my hyper-focus on the now was creating a heap of excessive nervous energy.
Now I am practicing mindfullness in the moment as well as self awareness... maybe this will centre. My energy a bit more.
Although I admit the hyperactivity was kind of fun... probably not very sustainable though lol.
