I think it helps if one regards God as a metaphor for All that is, Creation, Source i.e. That from which all things are manifest (and indeed non manifest) ,

I concur with those who would suggest that this is a somewhat Pagan approach on my Part.

I cannot deny the Creation I see all around me and that I/We are an integral part of.

As a result this evidence leaves me in no doubt that an external God/Goddess (Though to be honest I think of creation as both male and female and thereby remove the complexities of trying to asign gender) exists.

I guess personally for me, assuming that a soul exists, it’s even more terrifying not here on Earth when I am alive but in the afterlife because essentially who is keeping order? People/souls can do whatever they want and even if there were established “powers”, their lack of omniscience terrifies me as they may be more susceptible to making mistakes….I feel that if a God exists, everything would be more fair…hate to have to see the notion that “life isn’t fair” apply to the afterlife…of course, I am only basing all of this on a God that is Good, Perfect, and Omniscient.

As Michel de Montaigne once said “I have never seen a greater monster or miracle in the world than myself.”

Now going into crazy territory of life after death and the assumption that a soul exists, I think even such an afterlife can be quite "not as heavenly as one might have assumed when one was alive in the physical corporeal form." Who knows what the political system is on The Other Side or the Afterlife whether it be communism, socialism, libertarianism, anarchism, dictatorship, monarchy, capitalism, anarchosynicalism, anarchocapitalism, fiscal conservatism, some kind of tyrannical or non-tyrannical system, etc. It could very well be heaven or hell or consists of some degree of both the good and the bad.

This is all the product of thinking. Beyond thinking lies another reality, one which exists inside the many overlying deminsions. It's system of opperation is not based on these corporeal ideas. You must expereince for yourself this existance beyond the rationalism of the thinking mind in order to understand it, as it does not at all track with human linear thinking at all. It's currency is energy and it's hieacrchy is based on vibration awareness or Light quotent.

God, as you would call it, is omnipresent, there is no place God is Not. The way to discover the Universal construct which defies words is to go through and beyond the thinking mind to the part of God which is within.

Once this is discovered there is no fear that there is no external God (or internal) infact there is no Fear at all and one begins to deal in the 'currency' of the Universe which is subtle energy, to create and construct corporeal reality as percieved by the 5 senses in the 3 deminsional realm.

And again the question is not so important as why the question is asked.

And possibly more important than why the question is asked is inquiring about the state (of being) that would allow one to ask why a question is asked.

The thing is that as normal human beings we seek to balance and itemise the world in such a way that we can act with fear held at bay, It's the old survival mechanism which supposedly isn't of too much use anymore but is still in place and while it worked in a natural environment to keep us in a state of readiness for the unexpected it now keeps us in a state of fear because the monsters that were real and could sneak up on us and kill us are now phantoms we cannot pin down in any real way... and so this rationalising situations to ensure as much safety as possible have become double edged swords where the same outcome which allows us to feel safe also comes with a good dose of irrational fear.

And what is interesting also about this ability to find balance isn't so much the balance that we find so much as it is about what we then allow ourselves to do.

We set aside that type of thinking in the bigger questions and go back to just thinking in seconds and minutes. Trust and fear are balanced in the bank of life, our security blanket has been mended and patched, and we can go back to looking at each foot taking a stride... but did we even need to restore this balance? It allowed us to forget, for however long, the idea that the skies and the seas and the mountains will stay in place and not attack us when we aren't looking but did we even need that rationalising to get to the relative calm we have found?

These are the questions worth asking.

Eh, no, not for me. To me it doesn't seem to be a big deal. I have seen nothing suggesting whatever we call "god" even cares or is involved with the universe. Besides explaining creation, God doesn't really need to be put into the equation to explain anything. So, if no "god" exists, all it changes are explanations of the universe'a genesis. The idea of some spirit existing is certainly a beautiful one though, an I think KNOWING it doesn't exist may depress me.
