High Preistess?

Hi All,

For starters, I am new to tarot cards and tarot card readings. I got a tarot card reading done last month, in addition to my astrological horoscope, and quickly fell in love . However, I am still trying to figure out just exactly what all the cards mean and how they relate to my life.

In my last tarot card reading, I asked for insight into my closest one-on-one relationships, specifically my relationship with my SM. What I found the most interesting was when the reader got to the card that explained what my SM needed/wanted from me. He said that my SM wanted the High Preistess Upright from me, but I am not exactly sure what that means. Any clarity would be extremely helpful.

Surely the reader interpreted the card for you
If all they've told you is

my SM wanted the High Preistess Upright from me

then they haven't 'read' your cards.
The cards mean different things to different people, so, anyone here interpreting the High Priestess will have a different interpretation to what your 'reader' would (and would very possibly have got a different card had they been asked the same question).
It could mean anything, your best bet would be to Google the card and look up the different key meanings, there's plenty of websites out there to choose from) and choose the meaning you prefer.

Sorry, I don't feel like I explained myself well enough here.

I've been consulting a tarot card reader/astrologer over the past few months to get deeper insight into my SM connection. I met my SM 11 months ago, and have never had more intense feelings for another person before! Our relationship is also interesting in the sense that my SM mirrors everything about me. His personality and essence is extremely similar to mine. And, our connection has been beautiful to say the least!

I am an introvert at heart and am not used to the dynamics of a relationship--never mind one that has such a strong connection! I also struggle a great deal with anxiety, and trust and commitment issues, a great deal of which stem from trauma from childhood and previous relationships.

As I said before, I am new to tarot readings. I googled the High Preistess card after my reading and found a lot of different interpretations. More than anything else, I found more descriptions of who a High Priestess woman is--someone who is knowledgeable, intuitive, etc., I was just surprised when the reader pulled the card for what my SM wanted/needed.

His feelings for me were the Ace of Cups Upright. His challenge right now came up as the Eight of Swords, as he's been struggling a great deal with health issues related to his family, chronic pain and depression. In relation to the High Priestess, the tarot reader just said the my SM wants me to include him in the happenings of my life, regardless of what's going on or what change may or may not occur.

I guess I was just confused as to what the High Priestess meant. Perhaps, my SM wants me to have more security within myself and our relationship? Or maybe it's a communication thing? Not quite sure.

IMHO, he wants to know what you're hiding - your secrets, your agenda, what you want from him...etc.

High priestess could mean someone with integrity, spirituality and mother healing also I feel. It feels there is a need for divinity, maternal figure, and they find that with you. Maybe a female role model in this life or past , that played a significant spiritual lesson. Someone with knowledge, wisdom to gain from.
Just my interpretation of it.

Sorry, I read your original post as though your astrologer had pulled the card and I wondered why they hadn't interpreted it and given the card context in relationship to your question.
Some background to the HP card is, she is based on Pythia, also known as The
Oracle of Delphi. Based at the Temple of Apollo the doorway bore the inscription 'Know Thyself'.
Given the HP's knowledge and insight, the card usually suggests that you need to examine your own inner landscape for answers.
In relation to your specific question it could mean
1) Your partner wants you to learn who your authentic self is.
2) To trust yourself (and your decisions).
3) Your partner wants/needs you to work through your anxiety and trust issues.
