From my experience, I wouldn’t say that Cancer men, or any Cancer’s are “emotionally unavailable.” My TF and I are both Cancers. And he is by far, the most emotional, empathetic, caring, and nurturing individual who I have ever met.
With that being said however, he does have trouble opening up when it comes to his emotions. He would much rather be a nurturer than be the one being nurtured. He is also in his early fifties and has talked often about the struggles he’s had growing up as an extremely emotional man. I think most men tend to carry that same burden—being emotional isn’t a “man’s role” when dealing in business, having a family to provide for, etc.
In addition, IMO, Cancers are odd in the sense that a.) they don’t want to come across as too emotional because they desperately crave acceptance and intimacy, and b.) Cancers rely heavily on trust when it comes to sharing emotions.
I also know through talking with my TF that emotions are just so heavily felt in our signs. We want to be emotionally available to other people, but sometimes the weight of our own emotions are just too hard for us to bear.
IMO Cancers, especially Cancer men are the most beautiful creatures. You really just have to be patient, give them space, and learn how to set boundaries (and respect theirs to have a strong and fruitful relationship. Trust me when I say that the love you’ll receive from a Cancer man is like no other
