What is token brooms?

Hi I read to put in home token brooms African amulet in book Amulets Sheila Paine. However I am not sure what that is anyone had some experiance with token brooms?

I've never heard of token brooms before but I would assume the amulet provides protection just like a besom or broom would. Brooms were often found just inside a dwelling hanging with bristles up to ward off evil spirits, negative energies and to protect the home and all who dwell within it. It could also be found hanging over a door with the bristles facing in the direction of opening of the door. I have one in my bedroom by the corner of my closet.

In the old days, the broom were used before ritual by getting rid of unwanted energies, cleansing the space. And there were also used for fertility rites when pagans were riding their besom and jumping with them, to show how high the crops would grow. The flying ointment was another common practice where witches would describe their experience of flying, often with a broom. However, the ointment is no longer common due to the risk of dying.
