The Universe has decreed my children need shampoo and must wash their hair!

Soooo. My kids are at some sort of threshold of hygiene that comes with transitioning to their teen years - they hate to bathe and wash their hair and yet they are becoming aware of others they may "like". It's a hair-wrenching battle (pun intended), as both assure me that they are bathing and washing their hair, yet their hair looks mysteriously oily.

And the Universe has also noticed - yes it has. And sent a free sample bottle of shampoo to drive home the point. As I was pondering why the heck have I received a free men's bottle of shampoo in the mail, I see my son dodging my view with his oily hair. Then my daughter makes her self known who lets me know she needs DRY shampoo (God help me). This resistance to shampoo will no longer stand! Children. No more dodging shampoo (we don't need the dry kind), for heaven's sake! (If you are a parent, you will recognize the struggle is real.)

For sure. My 3 year old absolutely refuses to even get in the bath let alone have her hair washed. Only when we promise she can have 'princess hair' will she even contemplate it. Nightmare.

Good luck - 3 years olds don't tend to smell as bad as teens!

Regarding the shampoo free sample: our thoughts attract in kind. Your thinking about shampooing attracted the sample. We create our reality.

Regarding kids' aversion to washing: they're more in tune than adults with what is good for them. Both the water pollution and the chemicals from the cleaning supplies are poisonous to the human body. Try with natural products: they clean less, but cost more ... :)

The correct answer is "get your butt in the shower and bathe...or else"!!!!

Whether children have washed hair or not doesn't really bother me but what I do know is that there are people who never wash their hair, one of whom I know well, and he has the most beautiful hair you'll ever see.

The shampoo you received didn't come from the universe but from someone who wants to sell you this stuff. It has nothing to do with a universe following our wishes. The universe does actually have more important things to do.

I agree with everyone!

The Universe most certainly sent the shampoo. Now you can tell your kids it is shampoo - or learn to no-poo. But that takes a while and most certainly requires very frequent showers 'shampooing' with hot water instead of shampoo.

They do not want to be smelly - so trust their survival instinct, trust that they behind all the disorganization and distraction and refusal actually want to take good care of themselves - and lay out the alternatives:

Either use normal shampoo provided by 'the house' at leas once a week
- or buy your own products
- or begin now on a proper no-poo transition (which you will then have to keep track of their progress on, afterall they are still immature pre-adults :))

In my family electronics time works best. I cut the wifi, or take the sim-cards or devices. But I always state clearly which rule 'costs what and for how long'.
- give a deadline
- before the deadline I remind them, with time enough to do the task, but not time enough to procrastinate about it.
- I put everyting in alarms in my phone, causeI have no memory myself, so being a 'consequent mother' is rather impossible. My kids have learnt they have to actually do as I say eventhough I'm not consequent.

Maybe you weren't looking for advice, sorry in that case.
