I know this is true, I have many family members who have been buried and have received messages from some of them through mediums so I know their soul has moved along just fine. Thinking of their body - vessel - in the ground though still is enough to bring me to tears. Only one family member has been cremated and to me it seems so much more final - their vessel has gone, it cannot be wondered about in such a sad way to me.

What happens to my body after this experience has ended is of no concern to me. The only request I have made of my family is that if the body is to be buried, it must be a simple, natural burial, with no embalming, no vault, no headstone, and a biodegradable cloth shroud or plain pine coffin. There is no reason to preserve or protect it, as I will not be using it again. Thus, it should be allowed to return to the earth from which it came.

Fortunately, this is legal where I live, and there are "green" cemeteries that will provide such services.

My younger brother is a very active environmentalist, and one of the few family members I have told about my NDE, so he is on board with this.

I'd want to be cremated. There are Bio Urns where you can put your ashes in with a biodegradable urn that grows into a tree. I think they're starting to develop a process where you don't have to be cremated, and you can be buried in a biodegradable bio-suit that eventually grows into mushrooms. I think if that option is well versed when my time comes, I'd want that. But as of right now, I'd appreciate being cremated and grown into a tree (:

I would prefer to cremate people than bury them.
