Candles and intentions

Hello! I'm new and I'm very interested in learning how to use candles with intentions. At my UU church class we always light an individual tea light candle before beginning.

To do this at home, do I need to first cast a protective circle?

I currently don't have a problem with energies in my home, good or bad. Will doing this invite them into my home?

Do you use special symbols or markings on your candles?

Hi Lieve, welcome. I've been working with setting higher-self intention, for years now. My experience: candles and circles and such are not required. But if that's your path, I hope you get the response you're looking for.

Hello.
From my experience, set the intention for candle before you light it, what you do physical it is only to be easier for you to set intention. If you have strong visualisation abilities, imagine, what you want to achieve with it and then do it. Of course, feel it too.
It will attract, what you want to attract.
Develop your ability with candles, so you already have all the protection integrated into intention.

I love doing candle work, the flickering flame of a lighted wick is so very peaceful and tranquil to my soul. When I do any kind of candle work, I generally carve some Reiki symbols or runes on it, or maybe just channel some universal energy into it while holding my intention. All good ways to prepare a candle for mystical purposes. Another simple way to prepare a candle is to simply anointed it with olive oil while either speaking, praying or thinking about your intentions.
