Do you recommend the Beatles?

Should I or should I not buy the Beatles CD collection? I do not think that I have ever bought more than three Beatles records in my entire life (I'm nearly 50). I think they are good - what I have heard of them.

Is it worth having the entire collection?

I like all genres of music, however, I couldn't see myself buying an entire CD. I have downloaded a few of their songs I even went to a Las Vegas show dedicated to them ( Beatles LOVE). It still wasn't enough for me to buy the CD.

This sounds so good...

Not a fan, though of all their body of work, 'Eleanor Rigby' was a masterpiece of modern music.

Thumbs up

Even though you're not a baby boomer, you seem to me to be the type to appreciate and have the opportunity to listen to them all; I suppose there are Beatles forums? You'd have a lot of fun discussing the music.

As a teen, I used to sit in our basement that was a full story - we had our music (turntable, tv, etc.) - rec room, actually - and I'd sit and listen to them and other pop songs and sing along - even lesser known songs of theirs to this day if it comes on the radio I find myself singing along and remembering most of the lyrics. Soo, the Beatles were a big part of my upbringing.

That said, if I were you, I would splurge and make it an early Christmas gift to myself.

My approach is to buy used and rip the tunes I want to keep listening to. With the Beatles, it's mostly from Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, and Abbey Road, but there are other not-to-be-missed tunes from other albums.
Once I checked a few years ago, and Beatles cd's were not the sort of thing that goes for a buck or two .

It all depends on what you like. I listened to their earliest ones when I was 8-11, and didn't buy the later ones until I had gotten older and 'expanded my horizons' . Only their later music held a strong appeal to me after that, though I know I'm missing out on some great ones from early albums .
