Yeah, the health/medical line. It's a legit thing.
It sure is.

The medical thing is also pretty funny for me because I AM in that industry - I have come very close to telling someone "dude, you realise that to properly diagnose your heart condition you need an actual ECG scan performed with an ECG machine and not a pack of cards, right?"

How can you diagnose a physical condition with a pack of cards. It's people's lives we deal with here. There is a place for everything.
Even licensed practitioners for alternate modes of healing cannot and do not work like that, even if it borders on the spiritual a bit more than modern medicine. There are rules.

Yeah it's tricky when the clients ask things like "can you tell me if I have a real heart condition or if I'm just overthinking things/just a bit anxious?" I can't fault them for considering the question, but no, I'm not going there.

Best advice I got from someone before I went pro was "expect everything. You're going to be really suprised at what you get asked sometimes!"

I think your Average Joe client tends to think that most people in the divination industry are kind of like walking crystal balls/8 balls, like people they see in movies; they're usually a bit disappointed to hear that most people have boundaries/guidelines, and can't give 100% accuracy.

I'd start the reading with a disclaimer stating:-
"I understand the question to be about 'spicing things up'. However, if you (the client) feel there is a deeper reason for your question, ie a physical, or psychological issue then you should consult a suitably qualified professional"

Any deck should do the trick, if you want some pointers on some interpretations PM me (trying to keep the thread family friendly lol).

aww hey you! I'll contact you soon.

I still ended up bailing from this particular order - my track record so far is that when my gut goes "euuuggghhhh I'm not sure I should do this question" it's usually right (esp with borderline medical/legal) and I'm kicking myself 20mins later with cards out. So this time I listened early

I cringe deeply when I see people advertising 'medical screening' services (usually some kind of chakra screen) - that's a whole kettle of fish I refuse to touch professionally. I would be curious to know - of the people who do it - whether they have insurance and whether any of them have had lawsuit or malpractice claims or whatever.
Here it is advised that if you run your own company you have insurance. I guess it isn't different when it concerns a company where you offer services, advice and so on, maybe even more so?
Isn't it similar to a coaching and counseling practice. Many of these are part of some organisations (it does cost money and you need to have done an official study otherwise they don't except you) and reason for this is mostly that: having legal council and insurance when a client gets difficult.
How to protect yourself when you do readings... not sure. I don't do professional readings. Not sure what you mean by that, do you run an official reading company?? Or do you simply refer to paid-for readings as 'professional'?
But I guess insurance is never a bad thing. From what I remember it wasn't all that expensive and at least you have your hiney covered.

Yes there isn't a 100 percent accuracy and you cannot bank on that when someone is seriously ill. We will kill people if people were to blindly follow medical advise through Tarot. People do come with questions on medical health, I refrain from them sometimes depending on how mature client is. I expect others to ask what they want to, because a question can be anything. I just make sure they know I am not a health professional , and where my guidance is coming from. They can take it or leave it and it also depends from client to client.
I am glad you brought this up, I have been wondering on this for a while to and I glad I could gain some more perspective from this. Thanks for posting this.

No worries!

I think the boundaries thing is just a professional thing everyone navigates for themselves - I also know some readers out there who refuse to take predictive questions (eg "am I likely to get the job at ____?"), any sort of timing question, yes/no type questions, questions to do with money etc. I figure so long as you've made a call on what you will and won't read on and make this clear to clients, you're good :)

Haha yes we do need to navigate on boundaries. Sometimes the lines blur, and sometimes you can just see a wall where you don't want to venture ahead. All is well as long as one knows where they are headed, thanks :)
