Ok...this is a tough one for me being a former musician and all.
I would have to re-categorize into three bands/composers if I may...
1. I Mother Earth - Canadian band that quickly became one of my influences. They only have four albums since '93, but each one is different enough to bring a new style to the table.
2. Dream Theater and all the side projects of the members. These guys are incredibly talented and have influenced scores of musicians across the globe.
3. Hans Zimmer and all the composers from Remote Control Productions. Modern classical music is the soundtrack to films. At least that's my perspective. It takes talent, patience, and an amazing ear to create sweeping orchestral pieces to frame some of the most iconic images in film these days.
I hope I didn't derail the thread too much....
