I have days when it's difficult for me to cope with such a loss. No one would be aware of this in my everyday life.
I'm sure I'm not alone with my feelings, losing a loved one and the pain that follows is indescribable.
Time is a great healer I know, being healed to help with coping with such a loss <3

My heart really goes out to you having endured the loss of my mother at almost the same time as you. This xmas & new year have been unbearable at best.

You are not alone

Im still yet to be convinced of time's professed healing skills

Metal, don't lose faith in your ability to heal from your Mom's passing...

It wasn't until 10 years after my Mom's departure that I found myself fully healed from that life experience - now there is no more sadness or pain remaining, and a sense of feeling at peace is present...

The amount of time it takes to heal will of course vary from individual to individual - but you don't need to feel discouraged over any perceived lack of progress over a short term duration... Hang in there and hold onto that faith.

Dr Phil said it best: "Time heals nothing. It's what you do with that time, that counts."

Hi Tricia. I've often thought the same thing. When I was growing up, I was so angry that God didn't let the dead come back to tell us they were okay. I thought if we just had proof that they were okay, then everything would be better.

As an adult, I have an epic ghost story, about someone who did come back, and let me know beyond any doubt that he was okay. And guess what? It didn't make everything all better. I think I only missed him even more, because nothing is ever enough--- not the signs, not the dreams, not feeling his presence or ghosty touches, not talking to him in trance or on a Ouija board. I wanted to see him with my physical eyes, and hear him with my physical ears, and touch him with my physical hands. In short, the only way I'd be satisfied is if he came back to life. Chances are that's not going to happen.

He once lamented that the kindest thing the dead can do for their loved ones is to be dead. It was a bitter lesson that we both had to learn. The scars need time to heal, and the living need to forget, and move on with their lives. But, some of us are stubborn and don't want to forget, and we refuse to move on. Grief becomes an expression of love, so we embrace the pain and cut ourselves deeper and deeper. It's a dangerous path to take.

For me, time didn't heal the wounds. Love did. He taught me that, if you want nothing more for yourself, then you should stop living for yourself, and start living for others, and dedicate your life to service. That was a message he gave me on the Ouija board (when I had my eyes closed) and it helped me a lot. Having a sense of purpose can pull you through some really dark times, and you know how proud they are of you. Our lives don't need to stop just because theirs did. We carry them with us, in every thought, in every heartbeat, and we live for them, too. Take them with you on your adventure, and make them proud.

Time does heal. What heals is that your happiness that they're 'there' in that beautiful place, happy, youthful again and free of pain, becomes greater than your sorrow that they're no longer 'here' physically beside you.

Personal love, when it is true, has no higher height than wishing for the happiness of one's beloved above all else.

And when your time is up, if you can leave the earth a better place than you found it, then yours will have been a life well lived.

Hugs to you Tricia. You are so right-- the signs, no matter how many, just do not fill that empty hole. And then we risk seeing signs that really aren't there. Time doesn't really heal, it just shortens the gap until we meet them again. All we can do is remind ourselves that this reality we are in is a great big illusion and someday we'll understand better why we're in it. Stay strong.
