Damian - I believe self-realization is capitalizing on the self’s ability to observe what’s happening both inside (emotions and thoughts) as well as outside (what is happening around us and how others are interacting with us) without forcing any kind of judgment, acceptance or denial. I believe it’s a person’s means of experiencing all things in life and just accepting and being the observer of what actually is. Self-realization takes courage to open self up to the floodgates of stimuli while remaining in a state of calmness and centeredness. This, in my opinion, is the way to the heart of the matter – the soul self, the higher self.

Digging within oneself. Finding your true self in there. Connecting. Hearing the answer to all of life's questions.

It takes decades to learn to do this for most, at least for me.

My two cents is that self realization is about finding the aspect of consciousness which is incontrovertibly the core of your awareness. To realize and awaken your perception to that within yourself is to meld the little awareness, the "I", with the All of pure Consciousness. All is as ever it was.

Bec of being involved with SRF...ha, the Self-Realization Fellowship,
I would say when you become conscious of, aware of, thus, realize your
True Self.
And, oh boy, when you do or when this happens the world is never the same again.
That is all I will say because I think I could write a book.

Oh my goodness, too become aware of who you really are, where you came from,
what you are 'here' for, what everything around you really is...oh boy.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

That's not it. And posting two dozen different question threads is the exact opposite of it, actually.

In my current understanding , "self realization" is realization of own emotion leading to realization of own existence and the cause of existence ...this is something beyond knowledge , is not something we know or something we wish and know or even is never something we will know ...is just something we realized and this is a process ...life is a process of this realization and this process known to me as Buddhism.....I wish to discuss / debate more with others for my own understanding

Hi Damian :)
For me, it is personal and unique to oneself, (being about self and all lol) ... for me, it is about freedom from fear and self-loathing ... its about seeing beyond whatever it is that one resists ... for me, personally, it continues to be about acceptance and trust and peace of mind and understanding, and indeed love and its many implications lol ... all that feel-good stuff ... and it is also about realizing the connection I have with my fellow human beings, regardless of their experience ... what i have realized over time, is that labeling it doesn't bring it any closer to actualization in my 'experience ... its about acknowledging the bigger picture for me too, even with stuff that seems very 'insignificant' at the time ...
