The Polio Jab against the Virus

Robert Gallo, one of the virologists who discovered HIV, is Director at the Institute of Human Virology, University of Maryland School of Medicine. In an article published in the journal "Science" on 12 June 2020, to which a number of eminent virologists put their names, he states that the polio vaccine might lessen the severity of coronavirus and also prepare the innate immune system to fight off the virus for several months when the dose would be repeated.

He continued: "The viruses causing poliomielitis and the coronavirus disease are two different viruses but share two important characteristics: (1) both are of the same type and (2) the polio vaccine is made with "debilitated" polio viruses which enter our cells and activate the same alarm mechanism that coronavirus activates."

What he proposes is a resumption of the massive experiments carried out during the 1970's which demonstrated the effectiveness of the polio vaccine against other viruses.

I have a personal interest in the results of these experiments. Having spent two months in an isolation hospital with polio in 1949 as a five-year old child, like all other polio sufferers I have immunity to polio for life and am immune to coronavirus right now if these virologists are right. I would not require the vaccine. Therefore I await the outcome of the trials with the greatest interest.

Thanks for sharing Untersberg56 - lets hope a vaccine is found, its amazing how advanced these viruses are - all the clever people on the planet and could take years to sort... Its amazing the body gets immunity for life isn't it, how it knows and information is stored - I tell you we could be waiting a while before vaccine is widely available - possibly could be gone by then who knows, or maybe not... I think something in your immune system possibly got this covid partly covered, but you'll have your own opinion on that...

Virologists are also looking at the anti-TB jab BCG which may reduce the rate of infection and deaths substantially, more so in less developed areas.

Meanwhile Oxford University virologists have announced a partial cure - Dexamethasone - that if used earlier would have saved "between 4,000 and 5,000 lives". The drug, used to reduce inflammation in diseases such as arthritis, was found to "reduce death rates by around a third amongst the patients on oxygen and ventilators in hospitals." Boris Johnson went on to say that "it is the first clinical trial anywhere in the world to produce a treatment proven to reduce the risk of death and will be made available across the National Health Service and later worldwide."

Interesting that we see how it develops, amazing isn't it a tiny virus giving so many problems to all the world's specialists.. my advise to all in the meantime, keep immune systems strong by keeping busy, keep a strong mind and smile when possible, this strengthens immune systems...
