Time is appearing to go much faster

Hello all, I have been experiencing time appearing to have been speed up greatly this whole past year. It feels like wake up, then the whole day passes super quickly, and it's time to sleep and deal with the weird time thing again in the morning. Days just seemed much more drawn out before the past one year.

Does anyone know why the days seem to be going so fast?

My mom once told me when I was younger that time goes faster the older you get. It's kinda scaring me.

I don’t think time goes by faster, or slower, rather it is our perception of time which changes as our physical body grows.
Generally days are longer for young children, shorter for adults, and even shorter for the elderly. I am in my seventies
and I have noticed that the older I get the quicker time passes.

A year used to be a long time, now it seems like a year passes in the time it used to take a few months to pass. I have
noticed this all my life, that as I got older time passed quicker. It is all a matter of a changing perspective. It might also
have something to do with our own internal clock. As we age our perspective changes about all sorts of things.

A really unique experience is to observe motion in stillness; be completely still inside, no thoughts just very quiet and still,
living in the moment and watching everything in motion around you. You get to a point where you realize that human life
takes place in one eternal now; one cosmic moment. Now is eternal, it does not exist in time. When you lay down to sleep
it is now and when you wake up it is now, we do everything in the eternal now.

P.S. Generally, little babies live in the moment, young adults generally live in their future, while generally older folks live in their past.

Maybe because we are busier while daydreaming most of the time away.

I really wish summers would go by super, super slow, while winter goes by in a blur. But the more fun you have the more time goes by quickly as well.

If I get up early, like I generally do on Sundays, the day seems to be a lot longer and I normally get a lot of work done.

If I get up normal hours, I watch Tv and then look at my computer. Then I go to a restaurant and chat with several of my friends. When I leave, a lot of times the time is approaching 12:00. Those days, I do not get much done and the time seems to fly.

I'm relieved to know it's not something to worry about.(seems normal) I was googling about "time distortion" and came across all sorts of explanations.

From my perception it does indeed seem like time is speeding up. Days feel like weeks, weeks feel like months, and months feel like years. It's actually just an illusion. The older you get, the faster time appears to goes.

I used to work in a hospice with people who were terminally ill, most of them had days or weeks to live,
and many of them would say "my life went by so quickly."

What I came to find out was that many of them lived a good portion of their lives in memories of
yesterday and hopes and desires for tomorrow. They rarely lived in the present here and now.

Their life went by without them because they were so focused on their dreams for tomorrow and
memories of yesterday. They were not with their life in the moment when it was happening, and
that is why it seemed their life went by so quickly.

Starman, I have read some of your posts which are fascinating and helpful, especially the stories of your Vietnam days. Have you ever considered offering your assistance to IANDS, Dr. Diane Corcoran, RN, PhD, MA, U.S. Army Colonel (ret.). I know they were trying to get a program together for veterans and I could see how you would be a great help.

Shoresh, I am a member of the National Association of Medics and Corpsmen , and I am familiar with IANDS.
Don’t know if I am going to make their 2019 conference. Although I appreciate your suggestion and may contact
Colonel Corcoran just to chat about potential opportunities to serve. Thank you.
