exercise induced rhinitis

hi does anyone have exercise induced rhinitis? i was trying to discover why it happens and the better cure. it's not exactly harmful but very annoying lol i do long distance running and i have runny nose alot and sometimes chesty cough duing run and i think it effects running pace and breathing. they always say to get over the counter nasal spray but i dont think that's actually dealing with the problem yeah, it's like with any doctors treatment 9 times out of 10 it doesn't work and it's all about the money at the end of the day.
i would of thought that exercise would strengthen your breathing system and stop the exercise induced rhinitis over time but that's not the case.
im just wondering if it's my diet or when i was younger my parents were heavy smokers and my uncle and neighbour's, so there was alot of 2nd hand smoke which could of weakened my respiratory system over time.
from a more spiritual or more natural point of veiw what would be a cure for this?

Hi Explorer,

Perhaps some yoga breathing and or exercises would help and give some relief.

Shatavari aka Asparagus root powder is good for lungs as well, amongst other things.

Good luck.: )

I have allergic rhinitis, but mine is because I have nasal polyps.
I had surgery to remove them, but a few of them grew back and I have lost my sense of smell. I take prescription singulair, and use a prescription nasal spray. It does help with my breathing but I'd like my sense of smell back.

you could also use a nasal rinse, like NeilMed or a netti pot to clear out your sinuses. My doctor says to keep the nasal passages moist so that you don't end up with dry mucus
