Jules, agreed. And i have found that over the years different parts of the poem have resonated more for me at different phases in my life...

as for different parts being relevant you're definately not wrong there!!!
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit.

Ya, and not that long ago it would have included me as well... it's that New Jersey upbringing and all... but since I've relocated to the land of... err, well... the Pacific North West I've cranked back the whole "vexatious to spirit" thingy

EmergingPath, Thanks for sharing this awesome poem. This part ^ especially resonates with me... I wrote it in my collection of quotes, along with - "Beyond wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself... strive to be happy."
