mediumship and spirituality work of the devil?

Im posting this in here and the spiritualist section as im not sure which is right! I need some advice!

Im new in my beliefs, and at the moment i feel split between christianity and spiritualism. Ive been to a closed circle and found it fascinating what was said and what happened through the mediums.

However, since going many Christians have told me that what i saw and experienced wasn't indeed spirits but the devil pretending to be them and i am messing about in dangerous things going to mediums.

In my heart i don't believe this is true and it was really helping to feel that our souls and spirit really do live on and we are reunited with out loved ones.

How can it be the devil? i've been told its because he is deceiving and a liar and he will take on any form to turn us away from God (ie pretending to be the spirit of a loved one)

Would love to hear your opinions on this.....

That is religious dogmatism.

That a horrendous disservice to the community, and Christianity. There are people that have their Christian beliefs fostered in a “closed circle.”
Take for example, Cardinal George Pell, most senior Cardinal of Australia, in a televised appearance believes that non-believers, or call them Atheists, are welcome entry into heaven. He believes that a motion towards goodness, beauty, and truth is what is important.

However, there are Christians that would assume, and without question, that a non-believer is going straight to the bowels of Hell. Notice the difference here…? Even within the domain of Christianity, and “spirituality”,there are various degrees of beliefs.

Here is an honest opinion: Life is a journey of discovery.

People are born, and depending on the correct geography, are spoon fed Christianity. Somehow, in some astonishing gymnastics, and evasion of reason, one is lead to believe they have discovered the meaning of said journey?

I am not trying to discourage you from religion. But there are a lot of dumb Christians in the world. There are a lot of Christians out of touch with modern Christianity. There is never enough reason to believe the first idea that comes your way. You choose what to believe, and you pick and discard what resonates with you. Do not let others tell you want to believe.

That depends on the very one practicing it & his/her work.
One has the choice which spirits to work with.

It is clear how the devil is mainly used for scaremongering,
& I believe that worse has been made & manifested by humans.

The key to this is "in my heart"...

I do psychic healing by allowing Jesus to work through me. A religious friend of mine told me she was "worried" about me and that she was afraid the devil was influencing me.

I was angry for good reason but responded in a calm and even voice with "I know what is in my heart and when Jesus is in your heart there is no room for the devil!" I then said, "You had better go back and read the Books of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John which is all about healing."

To her credit, she did and came back and apologized. She said she found what I did to be very interesting. She was being influenced by her husband's fears.

The crazy thing is that the very same people who claim to be Christian are the very last ones to believe.

Another woman (upon meeting me the first time) told me that the Bible says to not believe in false prophets. I asked her what made her think I was a prophet? I then encouraged her to find Jesus and talk to him herself instead of relying on others. We don't need a minister or priest to talk to him... we all are able to have a personal relationship with him. There is nothing more special about me.

She talked to her minister and I was surprised that he encouraged her rather than discouraged her from associating with me. We ended up getting to know each other better.

Now, it is true that there is much we do not know about the psychic world and people can misuse and abuse it. If you keep your intentions of the highest good and rely on Jesus and God as your spiritual guides, you will have the highest and most rewarding experiences.

But just as in our world, if you go wandering around dark alleys by yourself at 3:00 in the morning... who knows what trouble you might find.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe in devils or demons or everlasting hell--it's all religious hogwash to keep people in a state of fear.... Circles have been used by mediums for a couple of centuries and there is nothing at all wrong with them..

"In my heart I don't believe this is true..."

There you have it.
But I understand the confusion...we are told so many things; it IS hard
for a sweet, trusting person to know what and who to believe...

I replied to your post in the Christianity forum. I should have posted it here, I just realized. I know they will absolutely hate what I wrote there as it does not comply with their faith. Oh well...
