Once I did have a tingling sensation shoot from the base of the back of my neck up to the top of my head. That felt really cool. I would love to experience that again. If anyone has any idea what that may have been about, I'd love to know your thoughts.

The particular sensation occured, so be it. That is the reality as it happened to you, and it isn't 'about' anything really, it just is.

Tingling or the feeling of bugs crawling in the crown chakra or top of head area is a sign that the brow chakra is making a connection with the crown. What this means in plain English is that you are connecting to your universal or collective Self. Focusing on that area will heighten the experience. It is an excellent milestone.

Thanks all for your replies and info!

I'm really liking this Forum - it's so great to be able to talk about these kind of subjects and people "get it" and are happy to share their experiences

I sometimes will get tingling at the top of my head as I'm going about my day (not during meditation). I will often stop and look around because I'm trying to figure out what it may be? Any thoughts.....maybe not the right thread now.

Does it really mean this and that etc and so on, or is it what occurs... actually occurs as experience?

It so happens that meditation heightens the ability of perception and the practitioner senses subtler things which are there. It's not to be distracted by imagining 'other things'.

It isn't a thing to figure out.

I have the crown sensation all the time, instantly notice it if I place attention. Anyone can feel it in just few days with the right practice.

It' caused by deepening awareness and sharpening perception sencing subtler things and more unfolds, just as this unfolded before.

Hi journeyofone, If it's going on not during meditation it could be a physical phenomenon not the crown chakra. I mean shampooing your hair with eucalyptus and tea tree oil will also create tingling in the scalp. That's definitely not the crown chakra LOL!

Hi Gem, I agree that the mind can simulate a crown experience "imagining other things."

In a true experience of the crown chakra, any sensations would be accompanied or followed up by a new awareness, or a new depth of feeling about your spiritual being. People who have their brow chakra opened, when they experience the crown during meditation, begin to feel more peace, more oneness with their world. The tingling is a manifestation of prana (chi/qi) purifying that connection on a physical level.

BTW nobody's crown chakra is "open" - that's a figure of speech. When Kundalini reaches the crown, it means that you have reached your destination in the human experience - you have become like Christ, Krishna or Buddha - in complete surrender and all powers fully activated in all chakras. Very rare individuals reach this stage.

What makes me curious is are you talking from experience or merely believing what you're told?

Is the tingling really 'prana' or is actually the sensation as it is felt?. You actually feel the sensation and then imagine 'it's prana'

then it becomes oh christ krishna buddah and goes off tap...

After all, the topic is about what really is the actual sensation which so commonly occurs to meditors.

Thank you Gem. I won't think too much about it then. It has only happened once, and that was quite sometime ago. Since my body does the same thing everytime I meditate, anything new that my body experiences is a nice thing.

Hi Gem,
As to tingling I speak from personal experience. When you experience the energy you KNOW it is DEFINITELY NOT IMAGINATION. That's when the excitement of the journey really begins. It's like "Wow!" Your concept of reality changes. The intellect can only grasp so much, then actual experience takes over. As to the knowledge about Christ/Krishna/Buddha I refer to Sri Vasudeva's teachings that come from his own direct experience. He often says, "I don't give you anything you don't already have," and "My story is your story." And that's all I'm going to say about that! I won't get into a debate about him - you have to decide what you want to believe or test out for yourself.
