Here is another one nestling below undusted cobwebs of yesteryears...

the shifting prayer mode

I made a habit of praying at a certain time each day
At first it was merely an entreaty to take my problems away
As time passed by and I realised the transience of destiny
And that I in the scheme of things but a small entity
After many a stumble
I became somewhat humble
Then asked that the divine energy be manifest within me always bright and pure
What I was asking for, to be honest, I was not quite sure
So at the prayer time I said that here I am back with you again for a while to stay
To which I received the reply that you here here only now but from your side I never went away!
For me a wake up call
My attention span was small
The prayer mode must gain permanence
If of the divine effulgence I am to receive its unabated effervescence

Desire free action

Practically devoid of self serving desire
There remains within, no raging fire
There is enough traction
But no cause for action

A silent witness nonchalant
Unseeking, reduced want
An equal eye, rarely pained
Non-doer doing, as ordained

Traces of divine love imbibed
Negativity by and large proscribed
Ecstatic joy within does blossom
Aglow & alive in our bosom

Specious logic does no longer confound
Voice of conscience is no longer drowned
Outer engagement is zestfully giving
In an aspect of nonjudgmental loving

No agenda, yet the doing is done
No wars remain, which must be won
Shifting tides, fortunes wax and wane
Nothing is ours, neither loss nor gain

Desire almost gone and so has fear
The divine within, our ship does steer
The doing is done as best as we are able
To its outcomes, we attach not our label

The instrument of choice

A piercing shout!
A child cries out!
We instinctively respond
We calculate not any bond

The despondent beggar on the street
Shuffling on unsteady feet
We indifferently turn our head away
Because we had seen him there yesterday

The reason lies in use of heart vs head
Which instrument of choice do we wed?
One expands us, the other contracts
One unifies, the other detracts

Our life, our choice!
The conscience speaks; hear it’s voice!
Arms outstretched, the divine beckons
While the narrow ego merely reckons

Agnostic awakening

Careless with thought
Evolutionary progress naught
Indulgence in desire
Akin to playing with fire

The egos teasing dance
Transfixes us in a trance
Shifting images of illusion
Anchors us in delusion

Observer observing observed
Sanity preserved
The countenance pleasing
Begins with inner cleansing

The meditational mode
Our eternal abode
Ephemeral external
Eternal internal

Slow and steady
Unexpectant yet ready
Entwined with the exalted divine
Suffused with love energy sublime

Divine love enabled
Egoistic self disabled
Breezing through all resistance
With divine assistance

A humble divine receptor
Partially a love transmitter
Reduced attachment & discrimination
Rain or shine, ecstatic elation

Seeking nothing save divine connect
Decisions as conscience does direct
Free flowing spirit, pristine & unfettered
Fears & desires in the winds scattered

We are as we are, here and now complete
Egoless, doerless at our masters feet
The heart centre is our favourite retreat
Where the divine and we each other greet

Proxy prayer

Prayerful meditation and inner connect
Good to know but we are not done yet
Pause a moment under the shining star
For there are people waiting not too afar
Who are not yet quite as divine enabled
Desires and fears have them disabled
They too would, if they could, awaken
They know not that they are not forsaken
We are joyful owing to a heavenly boon
So share the light as does the moon
Beginning with all those alienated
And some who we may have berated
Random strangers to whom we speak
And who in fear behind curtains peek
Family, friends and foes all are included
Alive or passed by, none are excluded
The divine within us our heart adorns
Although all we offer is a bed of thorns
We are gross and spiritually disabled
And yet our divine connect is enabled
We are underserving and yet we receive
The elixir of life within which we perceive
So as we receive, the love we disperse
With actions kind, not harsh or terse
Giving of ourselves as much as are able
With thought rested, heart joyfully stable
The love we disperse will reach its mark
Our sincere desire the Universe will hark
So think not, just go in, with empathy feel
The love we share has boundless appeal
On worldly tasks we may go slow
As of now, just pause a while in the flow
That too is with divine assistance
For both movement as well as stillness
Action and inaction
Require traction
An energised moment
Divinely poignant
Facilitated by the divine
We are strong only because we entwine
Proxy prayer done now a prayer for ourself
May divine be manifest & ego on a shelf
Now and forever
May delusional darkness touch us never
At any locale or domain, none excepted
Be we always divine connected
May we always be with divine love replete
Entwined thus, we are as we are complete

... the essence of the meditation mode, to be felt within at the heart and not analysed by the brain:

Still within the pause
Without any if, why or because
Exalted emotions of the heart
Where each moment is the start
As a free flowing spirit
No calculation of merit
In our sway of rhythmic dance
The ego looks askance
Then with nonchalant candour
In simplistic childlike wonder
Heart does thought upstage
Removing ego from centre stage
When the bugle is sounded
All fears are proved unfounded
As the void within fully fills
And the elixir of life overspills
Our engagement is complete
Divine love replete

Monk mode

With a loving heart and a steady mind
Have left the ghosts of the past behind
Worrying not about the unseen future
Are here and now, in meditational fervour

On the world stage we are the actors
And back stage we are our own directors
Observer observing the observed, both us
Playing our assigned role without any fuss

We are for we are not, the doerless doer
Desireless, fearless, all thoughts slower
Witnessing life experiences as they unfold
With an equal eye, shifting tides behold

The magic of flowering is in unhurried time
Ecstatically merged in the divine sublime
Each moment and nuance, a unique taste
Joyful assimilation within, free of haste

Egoless in the now paying humble tribute
Imbibing the divine love enabling attribute
In being, becoming a divine transmitter
A nonjudging, all embracing, love emitter
