Inside a body, either physical or spirit , Buddhism quote it as emptiness that's due to view basic on when viewing inside his own body. So it does create an emptiness concept or phenomena that's a wrong reality perception but a secular right outlook. When the perspective of the realities are different it can produce such a wrong idea.

Jim,

I found from dictionary some of the meanings. I don't know which one is your question that exactly you're pointing at?

1) unhappy because life does not seem to have a purpose, usually after something sad had happened.
e.g. Three months after his death, she still felt empty.

2) doing or saying with no meaning.
e.g. empty gesture aimed to pleasing the crowds.

3) empty hand.
e.g. an empty house.

.........

But since you posted on Buddhism thread then I gave you the above first answer.

Thanks Jeremy.
I googled that set of words and have found a HUGE array of Buddhist references, articles and pages about "empty phenomena" so I may spend a few weeks going over that extremely long, intricate and DEEP information to understand what that simple phrase is all about.
Whew, Buddhism sure got deep and serious after the Buddha's demise!!!! It reminds me of how Christianity EXPLODED after Jesus rose up from the tomb..............

Can you provide the authentic buddhist source text you are quoting from?

For those interested in a serious approach to emptiness, here are emptiness topics from the pali kanon:

Suñña Sutta: Empty

Cula-suññata Sutta: The Lesser Discourse on Emptiness

Phena Sutta: Foam
