But if you are capricorn, black cat means good luck. I heard that once. People can drive themselves nuts believing in superstitions. My mom is very superstititious. I couldn't stand it. I had to walk head on into her fears just so I could stop living in her fears.

That's why I personally never use expressions that give the impression that "white and light" are more pure and more spiritual than "black and dark": the "White Brotherhood" for example (which is also terribly sexist BTW).

I hate that too. The most unadopted animals in pet shelters are black dogs and cats. I've had black cats and have one now. Have two black dogs as well and other black dogs since passed on. Totally loving, anything but evil. It's very sad when people pass judgement based on color or foolish things like that.

Well in England, a black cat crossing your path is supposed to mean GOOD luck! So it just goes to show blind superstition doesn't mean diddly-squat. If it's bad luck in some viewpoints...and good luck in others...?
Like psychoslice said, I always made a point of deliberately walking under ladders...that was until someone spilled white paint on me -splat! Now I avoid them like the plague!
