Consciousness is only a part of creation

Consciousness means awareness. Awareness is nothing but a specific work form of inert energy, relating to the transportation of information from sensory organs to the brain via neurons. This transport is just work. Work is again only a form of inert energy. Therefore, in that sense, work is also inert. Here, the word ‘inert’ means that which is controlled.

Even the specific work form of awareness is inert. The image that falls on the eye, the lens present as part of the eye, the light rays that bring the image, the neuron cells which are just specific chemicals, the force of movement of the cells and finally the brain, which is also a chemical structure receiving the image—all these are inert by themselves. Together, all of these processes/components are known as a specific work by a new name called ‘awareness’, which is actually and really just inert. Therefore, the soul and the body are purely inert and function under the controlling power of God.

All of Creation, from top to bottom, is inert and the soul is a just a fine part of creation known as Para Prakriti in the Gita. If there is any non-inert item in the absolute sense, it can only be God. The Veda says that God is the controller of the entire Universe, including all souls (Patim Vishvasya Aatmeswaram…). Keeping these points in mind, how is it that one believes that he or she has captured the non-inert item (God) by simply attaining inert consciousness?

Consciousness or Awareness is a specific and subtle area of the field of inert energy and inert matter. The capital city is the most important area of a kingdom. But even the capital is part of the kingdom; it is not beyond the kingdom. Similarly, awareness is the highest and the most refined area of creation. This does not mean that the awareness or consciousness is beyond Creation and hence, is God.

A T.V. or a satellite is a specific technical instrument working on the principle of propagation of signals in the medium of continuous Universal Energy. The soul or awareness in a human being is also a specific work form of the same inert energy. In this sense, the continuous medium of universal energy itself acts as the common medium for the specific work form known as awareness also.

When it comes down to it, there really is no difference between a T.V. or a computer or a robot in the sense that they are all specific designs of machines made of inert materials or chemicals working with the help of the same underlying inert energy, which has been modified into such specific work forms. The continuous universal inert energy is the common medium for all these specific machines such as TVs, computers, Robots and human beings.

Universal consciousness is a wrong term. Consciousness is limited to a human being just as information technology is limited only to certain gadgets. There is no universal information technology spreading all over the universe. Only the underlying inert cosmic energy spreads all over the universe and acts as a medium to propagate the necessary signals for information technology. Similarly, consciousness or awareness is a limited item present in a human being and cannot be universal. The same universal inert energy acts as the medium to propagate a specific variety of signals related to human beings.

Sorry, but could you please explain what you meant by "The continuous universal inert energy is the common medium for all these specific machines such as TVs, computers, Robots and human beings."?

Universal consciousness, I say, is the exact correct term ...
just from my experience.

Oh boy...is it ever One Consciousness!
There is Only One!

Again.... my experience.

Anything perceivable in this world is made of certain elementary particles that are constantly dynamic. For instance, each one of the trillions of cells that make up the human body is simply an aggregate of subatomic particles interacting with each other in ways we still cannot fully comprehend. This energy or the constant dynamism exhibited by these particles is the common medium for everything that is seen and unseen within creation.

The same energy is treated as sound when it takes up a certain form, as light in another form and becomes awareness when it flows through the nervous system of a human being. In that sense, this cosmic energy is the common underlying material with which all these forms of energy are created. If you treat a lump of gold as the cosmic energy, then the different ornaments made from the same lump can be treated as various forms of energy such as light, sound, etc. Each part of the human being, including its awareness (which can be termed as the soul) is made of the same cosmic energy.

This cosmic energy is inert, meaning that is controlled. The controller of this universal energy is God, who is beyond all of creation. When compared to items that can be controlled by our will (such as a tiny stone that can be lifted by the body based on a thought), the awareness is considered to be non-inert. But with respect to God, this soul is completely inert.

The original post is just a reiteration of Datta Swami's teaching found in Divine Discourses no. 9 (pg. no. 133) at universal-spirituality.org.

Hi Miss Hepburn,

If by the word 'consciousness', you mean the fabric of this entire universe, then you're right—everything in this creation is made of the same underlying, universal material. But if by 'consciousness', you refer to the property of knowing, then you're definitely wrong.

For example, a rock does not 'know' as we humans can. Even animals and plants can 'know', but to a far lesser degree than us humans. There probably are other creatures who 'know' far more than we ever can although we may not be able to perceive their existence presently. The point I make here is that 'knowing' is associated with 'feeling' and responding to certain stimuli; this is not seen in every form of energy/matter.

The meaning of a word can change from context to context. But the underlying truth remains the same.

Color Three Primay Kinds of Existence

All particles respond to gravity.

It is gravity ( )-- if not also dark energy )( ---that connects all as a coherent whole ergo the one-ness we refer to as Universe aka Uni-Verse.

There exists three primary kinds of existence;

1a} metaphysical-1, mind/intellect/concept,
...see also spirit-of-intent aka I-verse...

1b} metaphysical-2, macro-infinite non-occupied space,

1c} finite, occupied space Universe.
...1c2} spirit-2 i.e fermions and bosons as physical/energy reality,

....1c3} spirit-3 as gravity ( ),

.....1c4} and spirit-4 as dark energy )(.

I agree...that which I bolded ...yes.
I had never heard of that phrase, the property of knowing.
Interesting phrase.
