I want to introduce my new kitten Meggie.
She's almost 5 weeks old now, so still a li'l baby.
This was her at approx. 3 weeks: (a photo collage down below)
The journey to finding her has been quite difficult.
I already have a 3 yr old cypress cat, a 1 yr old calico, both females.
But I wanted a black cat as well. Once I have that, it's complete. That's how it feels :)
Last year I got the calico, also a long-time dream fulfilled. A few months prior my black cat had made his transition. That was quite upsetting as he was my familiar, a soulmate that I've been together with before in another life.
It logically took some time before I was ready for another black cat.
This year I felt I was ready so I got searching.
Bummer is that most people charge a fortune for a regular Eur. shorthair. Prices between E200-E400 are normal from Feb through April. I've even seen people offer E500+ for a Eur shorthair? Insane!
Usually prices drop around May-June as then most people are planning their holiday and aren't so interested in a kitten any longer.
Plus by then the market is flooded whereas in Feb-April litters are scarcer.
In any case, I found one, not entirely black but so incredibly cute! But then I changed my mind as I read about 'shed or farmer's' kitten. You know, when they don't grow up in the living-room.
I never realised the consequences, but I did recognise them in my calico that didn't grow up inside either.
Such kittens are properly socialised and this is permanent...
Found another one, entirely black! And really black, now with a brown shine, seriously black!
But upon visiting it turned out to be a male and I want a female.
Again, no kitten.
Found yet another one, not as black as the male, very dark grey but close enough and incredibly cute! I fell in love, paid half upfront as asked.
So happy I could cry!!
But... I couldn't get in touch with the owners after that, very difficult to make another appointment to see the kitten. They barely reacted, didn't answer the phone.
I was devastated, lost trust in them and hope it was going to work out.
So I cancelled.
But... I still wanted a black kitten.
I decided to give it 1 more try otherwise I'd accept it and maybe wait a year or not at all.
And... I found one, closer to home than all the others as well!
She's not 100% black, a small white spot under her chin and on her belly, as you often see. But she's totally cute!
That's my Meggie!
I had asked Spirit to guide me to the right kitten for me and my other 2 cats. Maybe the others simply weren't that??
I did get hurt though because as soon as I decide to go for a kitten I get attached to it.
But alas, I now found her, trusting this is indeed the right one for me!
And this post is proof of that as with the others I felt reluctant to share the news. With Meggie I don't
I've seen her twice now, contact with the owner is easy, instant reaction, last time even when she was in the shower, hahaha.
Easy to make an appointment with etc. In short, it feels real good!
This is her, my li'l Meggie.
She's supposed to be an easy-going, laid-back kitten, but she bit my finger nonetheless because she didn't agree with being picked up and cuddled, haha.
