Hi Gem...

i understand what you're saying and agree with it, but i don't agree that it is all that complicated in the matter of personal ethics, at least from an idealistic viewpoint.

Would you agree that most repeated errors in personal ethical behavior is due not to blindness of past results but rather a desire that plays the odds the outcome will be different? A rationalisation?

"we are conditioned by how we have survived." To a certain extent, but i think that would include only the necessities of survival. Desire rationalises what is desired into something necessary.

Re change ( am trying to keep this as brief as possible) for the most part i also think it's a work in progress, but by the practice of some formula experimented with to see how it works.

Yes ideals do tend to be simplistic and seem ineffective when actually implemented.

It is highly irrational, because it's pretty clear that the outcome will be similar to past outcomes, but behaviours are ingrained and maybe there's ignorance, or even fear of any othe option... but it is fundamentally irrational.

Sure it does, and I've heard the stories that rationalize or justify behaviour which is very clearly unethical and harmful... and people also habitualize (maybe ritualize) the justification rhetoric behaviour too.
