Red face Can't stay focused on the issue I work at

Hello

I'm quite new to EFT...I find it usually quite hard to concentrate on the neative feeling I work at. It just gets lost along the way. Which is good in a way but trouble is that its back after some time.

How do you keep focused on the feeling?

Cheers
Flora

hi Flora. I haven't spent as much time with eft as I would like/plan to, but I just thought that maybe a different form might be helpful for you.

I read this book called Instant Emotional Healing and it had a version called ESM (Emotional Self Management) and among other things it had a couple exercises to help you be more aligned or something, well that's probably not the best way to describe it, but I would recommend you try and check out the book whether online, from a library or purchase it. Before it gets into the eft too, it has chapters on other interesting things leading up to it, it was really great

I've been using it for over a year now (was very skeptical at first) and I needed something, so I tried it and it seems to work very well for me...It's my understanding that it's not something to be used to focus for longer than the time it takes to 'tap' and say......whatever comes up is what comes up, because just saying it for me, has become a release and yet some of them will dredge up rather heavy stuff. I hope it works out for you, Flora.

I'm new to EFT, but I can already see a benefit. Are you doing it along with a video, where they tell you what to say? Maybe saying it in your own words will cause the emotions to be more real for you. Say things that actually make you feel that emotion. Because the ones where they tell you what to say are good, but they aren't as personal as you could make them. Also, when you are feeling that emotion, do the tapping then. Or try to imagine a situation that will bring about emotion. Close your eyes and focus on it and bring up some of the negative emotion. Just a few ideas.

Hi Flora, that used to happen to me, I'd sort of tap and then either wander off or start to tune into other aspects or just rant thinking I'm clearing a whole bunch of stuff at once and then I'd get triggered soon again. I'd suggest you keep your statement very clear and simple (and repeat only this statement even if you want to add something to it, don't) and test your work after each round. I also usually have a pen and paper when I tap and if I'm tapping on something and feel something else is coming up I write it down so I can carry on with initial issue and then go back to other stuff that came up. Hope this helps. :)

No, I know the routine and tap by myself, so to speak ;)

Well, that's quite hard because whatever I do, I just can't stay tuned on the feelings while I tap. It dissolves somehow... I don't know.
And it's not always possible to imagine a situation which makes me feel exactly the way I need to feel to be able to work on it.

How's about what you feel?
Keeping focused on the words is ok, but the feeling is hard.

Last time I did this, I ended up with sooo much
Hope I'll be ever be able to work on it.

Thanks.

I think the whole point is to be able to bring issues up (they're not all going to end up having the same intensity of response), and release. At least that was my understanding...Once something is tapped, it comes to the surface as much or as little as it's going to in that particular moment. I usually end up getting a little series of one issue after another to tap in a series, and sometimes there will be a really big issue that gives my body 'notice' with its intensity - it's a matter of letting it happen however it happens - NOT to focus on them in the way you're saying. It's not what you TRY and do. That's the real magic.

The way I understood it, it's very important to focus on the feeling you work with...
For exaple if you start working on shyness, it's crucial to focus hard on this very feeling while you tap. It will not work if your mind wanders.
