I also recommend looking into the work of Michael Tsarion. He has a bunch of videos on YouTube as well. His work is also out of the box and fascinating.

Religions are a part of humans and their societies, the idea of them controlling people is a conspiracy theory type view. People just believe in powers unseen, like almost everyone in this forum, and tend to hang around others who believe the same. Any type of group that can be formed has certain 'controls' because it has a specific view on something and a purpose.

You are free to tell Abbey & others interested in that as a start instead, all you want.
She started asking about common grounds in all major organized religions, practices, rituals, the gods/goddesses being worshipped.

I originated from Roman Catholic religion, then left and joined in other religions to learn, so when I mentioned control
and now, Brainwashing-it is based on experience and studies. It has been happening, it is not a conspiracy theory; nor am I convincing everybody of it. If anybody cannot relate to it, then I respect their own view & belief. I don't believe mass control is an issue here at the forum.

You said belief in God is common to all religions.

Yes the extreme or fringe groups will have brainwashing. Sometimes they are called cults. Religion itself is not brainwashing though, anymore than what goes on in this forum is brainwashing.

People in this forum have certain beliefs, and they rally around those beliefs, supporting those who agree and resisting those who don't. Those who don't agree don't fit in and sometimes get ridiculed. That doesn't mean the admins and New Age believers here are brainwashing people. Just because most people on this forum believe religion is evil doesn't mean the forum is a brainwashing cult, it's just a popular belief that they share and they see themselves as right.

It's popular these days for young people to believe in conspiracy theories, religion is brainwashing, the government is out to get you, etc etc. It's popular to pass blame instead of taking responsibility for your own life.
