It's a religion and that is one of its beliefs...that's all.

You have to read stuff to find out...you're making no sense.
There IS no 'god' in Buddhism.

And by the way, I think that there IS a difference between being a studier of Buddhism and 'believing in' Buddhism. You really do have to bone up on your Buddhism info - that's what I've concluded anyway.

When you say there is a God, that's a belief in God. When we say there is no God in Buddhism, we refer to the absence of that belief.

Some I agree. All religions are based on words and text and scriptures.
And I'm not sure you're dumping Buddhism into that - a religion, which it isn't
(I feel), but what else to call it, right. I get that, but don't agree that it is strictly
a religion.

You make it seem and sound easy to explain away what's in contention here.
I'm sure the op can figure out a thing or two, without further arguments.
Be well!
If it's not a religion then it's something other than a religion and that is its biggest belief thereby making it a religion. I don't say that in a bad way. It just is what it is.

My question to you then, Is there a God?

What does it say God is in the Bible?

Where do you find heaven according to Jesus in the Bible?

Do you find similarities in Buddhism?

It's basically due to the fact that God is not necessary in Buddhist teaching. People who believe in God, Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Jews and so on, can still practice Buddhism - meaning learn the meditation and the philosophy.

Gotama referred to his teachings as a 'path', which is universal, so it doesn't matter what religion a person is, what culture they are from or if they believe in God or not. It's just that no God or any form of worship is taught in Buddhism.

What is the purpose of saying the mantra Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ?

Is it a form of worship? A reaching out for help from a divine being?

What about Pure land Buddhism?
