I love all faerie things.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. For a long time I've been interested in faeries, elementals, spirit guides and all kind of creatures.
I'm very attracted to dragonflies, and I was told that if you felt a strong attraction to a certain animal or creature, that was your spirit guide.
I've read a lot of books on faeries, and I love Celtic mythology and lore.
Hope to get in touch with you soon,
Love
Cerridwen

Hi Cerridwen33,

It's great that you find elementals/faeries/nature spirits interesting. I also like reading about them. There are tons of informative sites out there. Maybe dragonflies are your spirit animal? love <3

Hi there,

When I read this thread, the first thought that came to mind is that some fairies can appear as insects like dragonflies. My other thought was to mention a book I read by Ted Andrews titled Enchantment of the Faerie Realm.

He goes through his experiences with fairies and provides exercises that are designed to increase your awareness of the fairy realm. This includes elementals, nature spirits, etc.

When I first became aware of the elementals and had some contact with the fire elementals, I learned from them that they prefer to be called pyromen. It could be a simple matter of using a preferred 'name' that can make the difference of connecting with them or not.

As for the water elementals, instead of calling them undines, try using merfolk for a better connection.

Anyway, I found the book useful for exploring the fairy realm. Have fun with your own explorations if that is what you choose to do.

Thanks for your lovely reply! I just got the book you mentioned, I'll read it soon.
One I liked very much was Simply Fairies, by Ralph Harvey. I enjoyed it a lot even though sometimes it was a bit scary.

Hugs
C.

I haven't heard of the the book, Simply Fairies, so I put it on my wish list.

The fairy realm, as in everything else, isn't all kittens and rainbows. It's best to approach with caution so when someone writes about the darker aspect of something, I take it as a warning and not to blindly jump into exploring any realm. Knowledge, preparation and protection certainly help to gain a well rounded perspective of what's out there. On the other hand, if the book is all sunshine I wonder if the author had bad experiences that s/he edited out of the book. I'd rather be aware so if Harvey's book scares me then I suppose it's a good thing as I'd be most likely to remember what I read.

Thanks for the book recommendation and I hope you enjoy Andrew's book. I have some more of his books as I find them quite sensible and well rounded.

While I am no expert on faeries, I do believe that a world without such creatures is a much poorer place.

Last summer, a butterfly landed on my skin, and stayed there for a while (10 minutes).
I'm really sure fairies are behind this.

That was a beautiful moment!
