I know what Buddha taught is true, I feel his teachings are logical and they resonate with somthing deep down in my awareness. But the truth is, I feel as though western society has made it unbelievably hard to achieve enlightenment.. Most monks had to spend a long time in a meditation retreat to reach enlightenment and often alone too.. That's somthing almost impossible in western society. The reason I'm bringing this up into this topic is because I know my purpose is to become enlightened and remove suffering from the entire universe but I'm often slightly discouraged by the fact that most enlightened beings had a great advantage being born in the east, away from the distraction and chaos of the western world. Although, if you understood Buddhism, becoming happy is possible in any situation.. That's fine, I love that modern Buddhism understands not everybody will be able to reach enlightenment but are still wanting to learn to be happy.

Anyway, my yearning for a different, more spiritual experience is probably just because I'm not entirely happy with my life. I will continue to progress, I'm not giving up!

Thanks for all the replies by the way :)

Much love,

HumanB
