I've always viewed humility as a strength as long as it isn't excessive to the point of being unhealthy. An unhealthy ego can't set appropriate boundaries in an abusive situation, for example.
As far as terms go, I prefer 'humble' and 'meekness' over 'humility', and view them as strengths. I think I view humility as a strength in the context of modesty. As in, what I would define as a 'proper humility' in regards to one's strengths, talents or achievements.

The ego is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. When it becomes inflated, it causes pain. When it becomes expanded though it is better utilised for the Self.

I would be interested in how the ego can be better utilized for the Self.....i.e. does it serve the Self to some ultimate or higher goal?

I am wondering if we have different understandings of ego. For me it's your conscious waking self e.g. 'little you'.

I am brash, arrogant at times, opinionated, can be hot headed, impulsive, impatient at times and occasionally quarrelsome.
Not to say I am not passionate, loyal, loving, protective, sincere, and genuinely wish to help anyone I can. I include these as positive notes, but anyone of them can be to a fault. My biggest issue above all else is how I focus on something like a laser, I exclude almost everything else once I get going on something.
Thank you op, for this thread.
