"doctor who" science ?
Looks like the latest findings ,if they are proved correct, could indeed point to a universe, that is a good deal stranger than at first thought. The pointers suggest,at least, that those tricky little particles, nutrinos, can exceed the speed of light. If this is the case, one of the cornerstones of 20/21st century physics, will have to be rethought,if proved correct, what other "enshrined in stone" scientific theories will have to be shelved .The random mindless neatness of the universe,is now in question.

Occam's Razor enjoins us to always seek the simplest explanation that explains all the data, but...... the deeper we peek into the fundamental nature of reality (atoms, "elementary" particles, wavicles, quarks, "superstrings" vibrating in 11 dimensions, braneworlds, multiple universes.....) the more complicated and convoluted things seem to get. Every time some prominent scientist announces "the end of the Age of Discovery", or whatever, someone else comes up with a revolutionary new theory or discovery......

Scientists Always Discover New Stuff
This really isn’t strange at all. Scientists are always discovering things they didn’t know before. This is the natural order of things. What would be problematic is if they weren’t discovering new things.
The only thing that is strange is that we’ve gotten used to the truism that nothing can be faster than the speed of light. Now we can say that nothing is faster than neutrinos. That is, until they figure out what is faster.
The Universe is quite ordered. It may be ordered on a system that we don’t understand, but our comprehension of its energies is not an impediment for the Universe!
Another post on neutrinos.
