I went on to design a full body endurance workout using just a towel and exercise mat. It was pretty grueling. It's a surprisingly successful method of exercise!

If anyone wants to ask any questions about lifts and/or strength and conditioning, I collected lots of information, great videos and articles and web sites etc.

I always suggest Henry Rollins' essay "The Iron and the Soul"

This video is an extract form the essay - very cool video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tEW9OcrbPQ&t=38s

Powerlifting is a sport in which the female athletes are at least as amazing as the males https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdujZau37kQ&t=19s

I love strength training though now I need to watch it since I had a hernia. I would recommend it to anybody, just be safe and wear a belt! :)

Well, dang, you all put me to shame. I was doing real good with just my running and lifting ten pound hand weights hahaha...then I got sick for a few months and everything went down the ******* but now I'm trying to get moving again but it's not going as easy as it did two years ago. :-/ People well say things about age...and that always ticks me off a bit...why let age stop one and I sure don't feel my age.

No, I am pretty much a solitary person and I prefer trail running. I get up at the crack of dawn and go to various places and do my thing and get out before the masses come.

The good thing about not working, is that i have all the time to do nothing but train. I love working out. The feeling of aliveness. It becomes more like a dance. I'm just about 36 and am in excellent shape but i noticed i'm past my prime. Age eventually creeps up. The motto, train hard but train smart becomes much more important when one passes their prime while still training intensely.

Good luck to the rest of you fitness fanatics.

Hey Sarian. To run alone is a great thing, and running in the morning puts you one step a head of the rest. Find the ones like you who are everyday running the trails alone, get involved, do something hard, rise to the occasion like the sun you see rising, and feel it coming out of you from the place you dig deep for.
