menopause and sex drive
Hello, joys of going through menopause, do you have any ideas on natural herbs for low sex drive and hot flashes?

Vitex Agnus Castus is a good one (Also called "Chaste Tree")
St John's Wort can be helpful also but be careful as it can make the skin photo-sensitive. It is often useful where there is any element of depression caused by hormonal shifts. Vitamins of course....plenty of B vitamins. Evening Primrose can be useful.
If there's a sexual drive problem happening, then Damiana might also help.
But do please check that these herbs are SAFE for you!!
The best thing to do in my opinion (which is what I ended up doing, and which helped more than experimenting myself) was to book a consultation with a qualified medical herbalist. It worked for me really well, and the medicine I was given really helped. My worst symptom was broken sleep which started out of the blue and was torturous.
When I went to see my GP he wanted to put me on Prozac!! Because I was feeling lke a zombie from lack of sleep and early wakening. He said they were depression symptoms! I told him I wasn't depressed, and that it was haywire hormones giving me such dreadful sleeplessness, but he wouldn't understand. I never -thank goodness -took the Prozac.
How glad I was that I went to a herbalist instead, who got to grips with what was really going on!
The herbal medicine was not a miracle cure. I still had some rough water to cross. But it helped a lot. The symptoms went of their own accord at a later date and now I sleep normally again.
