I have ADD with associated brain fog. I have yet to figure out how much of the fog can be lifted through exterior means.
I have already strongly reduced sugar intake and I have begun the process of eliminating wheat. I am also trying to apply various detoxing methods.
@Miss Hepburn: thank you for the advice about Candida, that was one I did not know yet.

How To Deal Mental Fogginess "Brain Fog" - What is possibly causing the mental fogginess - brain fog? There can be various causes behind mental fog, for example, the side-effect of using chemotherapy for cancer (chemobrain). There can be other causes too. Bottomline, I do recall two instances where the right medicine worked a little. The right medicine was different in those two instances. What was behind the brain fog in one case was a subtle kind of epilepsy like complex partial; in the other case, it was Inattentive ADHD/Organic Brain Syndrome from birth. Also, sports concussions can cause brain fog in some athletes. Good nutrition (aka ideally organic nutrition) is a good place to start; however, in both instances given (actual, temporary reduction of brain fog symptoms) previously, the temporary improvement was due to using the right medicine (which was kind of accidentally discovered over a long period of time). X-ref: cognition, attentive, mental clarity vs mental fogginess
