Bindi and buddhism ?

Hey everyone,

I'm starting this post because I have a question for you. I'm buddhist (in a spiritual, not religious way, because buddhism will never be a religion for me), and I find that wearing the Bindi helps me a lot focus on my ajna and makes meditation more comfortable and awakening that way. It's also a daily reminder of my faith and dharma, and helps me a lot stay focused and in the right path. I, however, know that the Bindi is originaly from the Hinduism religion, in a marital-way. I've heard Buddist monks telling me it's fine for buddhism to wear the Bindi in a spiritual way, but I'd love to hear your opinion about it.

(I'm not full Indian blooded)

Thanks!

Sure. Why not . I have a small buddha that I wear on a chain around my neck for the same reason. If it works for you it works. Don't worry about anyone else's opinion.

Buddhism goes well with just about everything.

Hello dear QoriShtiya :-)

I think the Bindi is very complimentary with Buddhism. I agree with Shaunc, follow your heart without worry about what other people think. Namaste.

Hello sky, the Bindi is associated with the 3rd eye chakra in Hinduism and in Buddhism. There are many concepts shared between these and actually Hinduism can also be said to go along well with just about everything :-)

Well Buddhism is not particularly dogmatic so I don't see an issue with this, from my personal perspective.

Buddhism is the teaching of Dharma (or Highest Truth) and it is concerned with dukkha (unsatisfactoriness) and what is called the cessation of dukkha.

Within this, there are many many side ways and interesting avenues to explore but the Buddha's Noble Truths (including the Eightfold Path) is fundamental to the fruition of the fruits.

From there, there is a lot more to explore IMO.
