I presume that when you say Yoga you mean Hatha Yoga, the practice of physical postures to make the body stronger and more flexible. You can certainly treat Hatha Yoga as a meditation, doing each posture with full awareness.

In the West, Hatha Yoga is considered as a practice in itself. In the tradition of the eight steps of Raja Yoga, Hatha Yoga is one of the steps in preparation for meditation. The purpose of doing asanas or postures is to enable the body to sit comfortably in meditation for extended periods of time. The last three steps of Raja Yoga are dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi (union).

There are many other Yoga practices, each of which may be considered as a type of meditation. Karma Yoga (the yoga of action), Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion), Jnana Yoga (the yoga of knowledge), Kriya Kundalini Yoga (which works with the chakras), Nada Yoga (meditation on the Inner Sound), and so on.

We are all different and we will be drawn to whichever yoga practice most suits us.

Peace

Thank you. I did not know all of these things. I learned from you.
God blessed you.
