I'm not seeing what you're getting at. Does what you say apply to humans as much as we think? Look at society, the strongest and weakest (physically) live side by side where survival of the fittest is not at work. Humans (society) are social and protect even the weakest in balance, where all cooperate and serve the common good.

Make Us Or Break Us...Biodiversity and Sex
Evolution takes place at the perimeters of community/culture/tribe.
This is were the outcasts hang-out, at the periphery and where the genes of two species are more likely to mix.
Bio-diversity is fittest ergo sex can make us or break us.

Hello lemex. In post4 replying to Snow Goose I have sought to clarify. I hope this helps re understanding the purpose of opening post.
I too celebrate the millions of unsung heroes--in my eyes--who support both those they know and those whom they have never met with compassionate and cooperative actions. They are the salt of the earth, the smallest crystal being of inestimable value to our collective wellbeing and social cohesion.

Hello Snow Goose. I have read the paper you suggested.
The observations and recommendations regarding the need for clarity of thought and the need for great care in choosing the text to communicate thoughts must also be applicable to other thought based fields of study.
If I have understood correctly, This paper though seems directed toward those sharing the same field of study as the authors, where such observations and recommendations are seen by the authors as being particularly pertinent.
Interesting reading--with which I have struggled--with unfamiliar terminology especially. petex

IMO, evolution has been taken out of the hands of nature. For better or worse, intentionally or unintentionally, we will be directing our own course as long as our civilization holds out.
Just look at the world today. :/

I find myself hoisted by my own petard! All studies are necessarily thought based. I hope my use of the description"thought based studies" in post above will be not be misunderstood. Good job I read the article and learned a practical lesson. petex

I'm glad you found it of use :-) evolution of mankind I feel is a very interesting subject, it would be good to know where we are heading but I don't think anyone could answer that exactly, we can only theorise.
