Can watering crystals make them grow?

Just curious, the lady at the shop was telling me about a quartz cluster, saying that that particular one still seemed "active" and that watering it may make it grow. She claims it has grown a little since shes got it (she keeps it in one of those lighted glass shelves with the water jars in it like watch shops) Now, im no rocket scientist, but I know water shouldnt contain enough silicone to grow a quartz crystal.. But i remember that my grandmother used to do the same thing, she soaks her crystal cluster in a dish of water claiming that it could grow. Is there any truth to it at all? I realise that besides them being in the ground surrounded by minerals for a long long time, i dont actually know how crystals "grow".

The answer doesn't actually make much of a difference to me, but i was just curious. One of those the-more-you-know things and it might help others avoid scams.

Hi Wanderluster I have been told the same thing

I bought a large amethyst geode from a crystal shop and

the lady who sold it to me said I should spray it with pure

mineral water .

I don't know that it grows but they certainly like it , especially

since I use water from the Glastonbury spring.

I don't think it will grow since it's no longer in the right environment to make it grow, it's not a plant. As far as I know it needs to be underground and with the right amounts of silica and oxygen to form, pressure and temperature is probably a key factor too.

the fake crystal clusters in market are actually produced in same manner.
while its not water but some saturated solutions are used.
naturally it might take 1000s of years for crystals to grow
